QotD/Writer's Block: Technology Lends a Helping Hand

Can't see the article for some reason, but never mind. As for me, I've given up any notion of giving technology as a holiday gift. It never works out well. Stick with the fuzzy slippers and you can't go wrong.

It's just cleverly hidden in that quote with some HTML trickery. It originally said "Sponsored by Best Buy". I gave them a snarky nickname and replaced the link to their site with a link to the Slashdot article.
A similar thing happened to a couple here in St. Louis. They bought something electronic and when they got it home and open the box all they had for their $200 or so dollars was a bottle of spaghetti sauce. I kid you not. Spaghetti sauce !!

When they took their very expensive jar of spaghetti sauce back to BestBuy along with their receipt and the box the store manager accused them of trying to steal and threatened to call the police. They called one of the local news stations instead. The local news interviewed them and showed lots of close ups of their new spaghetti sauce. Somehow BestBuy decided they should go ahead and give them what they paid for. I don't remember if they had to return the spaghetti sauce though.

I go to BestBuy sometimes because I really don't have a choice when it comes to price, but I always tell them, "No, you cannot have my phone number."
